Simone and Alex recently tied the knot at Highbury Hall in Birmingham. This beautiful grade II manor house was built in 1878 and the striking interiors created a truly unique & ‘quirky’ feel. On one of the biggest and most exciting days in our couple’s life, we’re happy to write that the weather was on best behaviour – which was great as this meant we were able to feature the venues beautifully ornate exterior in the portrait session later on during the day.
Highbury Hall Wedding Photography – A Rich History
Simone and Alex both got ready off-site so we met up when they arrived at the venue. There was a couple of hours free before the ceremony and Gosia spent this time with Simone and the bridal party in the Matilda room as they put finishing touches to hair and makeup. As the girls busied themselves with preparations, Alex and I spent time with the groom’s party in the historic library room to which we were privileged to be allowed access. The bookshelves made a great backdrop for this quick session with Alex and the groom’s party, and I for one would have loved to while away a few more hours here had time allowed.
Highbury Hall Wedding Photography – The Drawing Room
The ceremony took place in the luxurious downstairs drawing room. Once all the guests were seated, music started to play and Alex walked down the aisle first together with his mum – the walk may have only lasted seconds, but it was such a personal touch, and at the same time so to clear to see the loving bond that exists between mom and son. Soon thereafter, it came the turn of Simone who looked stunning in a beautiful fit and flare gown. During pre-wedding consultations, Simone highlighted how important it was for us to capture pictures as she walked down the aisle to be married and naturally we thrived on the opportunity to capture and share in this personal moment.
Highbury Hall Wedding Photography – Receiving Lines
As the service finished, guests, family and friends were able to greet and congratulate the awesome newlyweds with a traditional receiving line formed in the great hall just outside the ceremony room. For us, a receiving line is a super cool thing to do and still as relevant today as ever………and it presents us with a great opportunity to get natural emotion packed pictures of the whole wedding party.
Highbury Hall Wedding Photography – The Wedding Breakfast and Beyond
After the receiving line, the wedding party had a just short while to sip cocktails, catch-up and catch their breaths before it was time for group formals, bride and groom portraits and of course a scrumptious wedding breakfast in the great Hall.
Later in the day, as the sun dropped in the sky and the evening guests started to arrive, excitement for the evening reception grew and there was a tangible buzz in the air – This was going to be a good party!
And we weren’t wrong…….The Suits wedding band rocked the reception room and it was great to see so many guests getting down and boogying the night away – definitely one of the busiest dance floors we’ve ever seen!
Thanks guys for trusting Chapter One to capture all the love, fun and special moments – it was a real joy to share!
